I see so many posts asking "How do I reach 2000 words?"

The answer isn't adjectives. It's SHOWING YOUR WORK .
Think of it like a math test:
  • Low word count: "The experiment failed."
  • High word count: "The experiment failed. This was likely due to X variable (Smith, 2022), which contradicts the hypothesis proposed by Jones (2020). Therefore, we must reconsider the assumption that..."
    You aren't filling space. You're walking the reader through your brain. Every time you make a jump in logic, you lose words. Fill in the gap.

"Adding fluff" implies you're just padding. But explaining your logic IS the essay. The conclusion is just the destination. The journey is where the words live.

I'm stealing the math test analogy for my students. It makes it concrete. You wouldn't just write "=42" on a test. You show how you got there. Essays are the same.
