I need some serious advice and I'm hoping you can be honest with me. I'm in my final year, and my dissertation is due in like, 4 weeks. The research is done, the structure is there, but my supervisor keeps marking me down for what she calls "clunky phrasing" and "minor grammatical inconsistencies." It's driving me crazy because I feel like my ideas are good, but my writing style just isn't polished enough.
I'm seriously considering using an essay proofreading service, just to have a fresh pair of eyes catch those little mistakes and maybe smooth out some awkward sentences. But I'm so scared it'll be considered academic dishonesty. Like, where is the line? Is it okay to have someone fix your commas and spelling, or is that them "doing the work for you"?
I've seen a few services online, but they all promise different things. Some say they'll just correct errors, others talk about "improving flow." I don't want to pay someone to rewrite my arguments, I just want my English to sound as smart as my research actually is. Has anyone here used a service and felt good about it afterwards? Or is this a trap I should avoid? I feel like I'm drowning in red ink from my supervisor's comments, lol. Any experiences, good or bad, would be super helpful right now. I just need to know I'm not making a huge mistake by looking for help.
