I struggle with introductions so much. Every time I write one, it sounds like: "In this essay, I will discuss..." My teacher calls that the "laundry list" intro and says it's boring.

I looked up different ways to start and found some that actually seem interesting:

Start with a question: "Have you ever wondered why..." Makes the reader curious. ❓

Start with a surprising fact: "Every year, 1 million plastic bottles are bought every minute." Grabs attention. 😲

Start with a short story: "The first time I failed a test, I was sure my life was over." Makes it personal. 📖

Start with a quote: But my teacher says only use this if the quote is really powerful and relevant. 📝

Start with a bold statement: "School uniforms should be banned." Gets people's attention immediately. 💥

For my college essay, I'm trying the short story approach. I'm writing about the first time I taught my little brother to ride a bike. It felt small at the time but it taught me about patience and teaching.

My friend read it and said "I actually want to keep reading." That's never happened before! 🎉

What kind of introductions do you guys use? I need all the help I can get. 🙏
