How much should professional editing cost?

Hey everyone! So, I've got this essay due. Yesterday (jokes). Seriously though, my deadline is insanely tight. Before anyone asks, yes, procrastination may have played slight role. Anyway, I'm considering hiring professional to help me polish it up. Now, I'm not talking about those dodgy services that churn out cookie-cutter essays. More like someone who can take my draft and turn it into gem, you know? I've never used an editing service before though, so I'm kinda clueless about costs and all that jazz. Like, how much dough should expect to shell out for this type of service? Keeping in mind it's urgent. And if anyone's had any super awesome (or horribly awful) experiences with such services, don't hold back. Would love to hear about it the good, the bad, and the ugly!
