I wish there was a “trending topics in academic research” feed for undergrads

Grad students have JSTOR alerts. Faculty have grant forecasts. Undergrads have… whatever BuzzFeed’s “10 Debate Topics” list was last updated in 2022.

I wish someone would just tell us what actual experts are watching in 2026.

Because from what I can gather:
  • Climate change is now “climate resiliency” and “risk management.” Not “is it happening.” It’s happening. Now the question is: who pays? Who adapts?
  • Trade wars are now “supply chain rerouting.” Vietnam, Indonesia, Mexico—how do small countries navigate U.S.-China fights?
  • Public health is “antimicrobial resistance” and “the silent pandemic.” Not COVID. The next crisis.
  • Demographics are “the aging economy” and “record-low birth rates.” What happens when there are more grandparents than grandchildren?
Why isn’t there a “What Academics Are Actually Arguing About Right Now” newsletter for undergrads?

Would anyone else subscribe to this? Or am I just procrastinating?
