Thank you to this community for recommending free writing courses 🙏

I just wanted to post a massive thank you to everyone in this forum. About six months ago, I was feeling lost after my MFA applications were rejected. I felt like my writing life was over. Someone in a thread here suggested that I stop moping and start using free writing courses to build my skills and portfolio.

I took that advice to heart. I completed courses in poetry, autobiography, and even playwriting . It kept my mind sharp and my heart full. Today, I got into a paid residency program, and my portfolio was entirely work I revised during those free writing courses.

Just goes to show that the best things in life (and on the internet) are free, and rejection is just redirection. Keep writing, everyone! 🌟

The fact that you turned those MFA rejections into fuel instead of stopping points? That's everything.

You just proved that the "traditional" path isn't the only path. Free courses, community support, your own stubborn persistence—that's what built your residency portfolio.

Which courses did you find most helpful? I've been eyeing some on Coursera and would love recommendations. And seriously, congratulations. You're going to inspire so many others who are sitting with their own rejection letters right now.
